Forrester Research:B2B Sites Defective and Difficult to Use

Business-to-business sites are badly designed, shoddily built and
difficult to use, according to a new report from Forrester Research.
None of the 30 b2b sites tested by Forrester stood up to scrutiny on
grounds of value, ease of use and reliability. Errors were frequently
found on the sites survey and content was often missing.

Only half of the sites allowed customers to buy products or services
online and a paltry 13 percent had necessary information posted at each
stage of the purchasing process. Just a fifth of the sites facilitated
purchases in more than three currencies while only 23 percent offered
more than three language options for users.

Forrester also noted that none of the sites offered a personalisation
function and that customers often had to sift through seven layers of
information to find the information for which they were looking. Search
facilities on b2b sites were generally inadequate. Results were often
irrelevant and it was impossible to refine searches.
