         INVESTOR SENTIMENT SURVEY 1 / 17 / 2000

Below are the results of our weekly "Guess the Dow" sentiment
survey. The survey was taken from 1/10 through 1/16 on the
Lowrisk.com web site.

Number of participants: 349

30 day outlook:

47% bullish, 37% previous week
39% bearish, 46% previous week
14% neutral, 17% previous week

(percentages may not sum to 100 due to rounding)

The median guess for the Dow closing value on Friday, 1/21: 11,417
(it was 11,200 last week). More complete sentiment data is available
at: <http://www.lowrisk.com/sentiment.htm>. Historical sentiment
data is available at: <http://lowrisk.com/sentiment-hist.htm>.

Sentiment grew significantly more bullish last week. Bullish
sentiment jumped 10% to end at 47%, while bearish sentiment dropped
from 46% to 39%. Neutral sentiment was little changed, moving from
17% to 14%. The Dow closed 200 points higher last week, so one would
expect increased bullishness. But with the increased volatility in
the market during the last couple of weeks, we are somewhat
surprised by this level of bullishness...and we take it as a caution
sign for the bulls.
