Hi,

I don't know if you got any answers, but when I spoke to the IRS they
said that you have to show 1) a large no. of short term trades
2) they should be done to reflect current market conditions technical
analysis (?), 3) they must be executed by yourself/for yourself. Also
you are supposed to write off expenses on Schedule C and put the transactions....on
Schedule D.

There is no activity code for daytraders, so you have to put in 99999
and describe yourself as a DayTrader for personal transactions.

Good Luck,

Dynastore offers a feed to TS4.0 for several data sources. In the next
version, it will work with the "Universal Data Server". Which will allow you
to work with even more data vendors.

http://www.dynastorelight.com/
http://www.uniserv.com/

I can't vouch for these companies, but they look good. The universal data
sever is being adopted by several exchanges around the world. They have a
new ISO 9000 initiative and offer a single user/single application license
for FREE.

It is amazing to me that BMI is giving the market away. If they had been
progressive and aggressively met the needs of their clients, they could be
dominating the market space right now. There would be no room for other
Internet providers, because BMI would be there with great service and low
fees. But they just don't seem to understand what it takes. Now they are
just an also ran with a terrible reputation. They have no idea of how to
market, how to provide customer service or how to think strategically. They
are reacting to market conditions, not proactively planning for long-term
success. I can't imagine what their business plan looks like. They act like
they are completely ignorant of modern management theories. Just look at
their sales structure. These guys are behind the times and without a clue.

If BMI does not re-invent itself in the next 18 months, they will likely
find themselves at the bottom of the barrel. With the boom in day trading
and general interest in the markets, and internet delivery methods, lowering
costs every month, traders have more options then ever before.

More data vendor choices are only half the story. As these young businesses
mature, they will begin to offer free or low cost software. Over time, this
software will improve significantly. Ultimately, there will be little need
for most users to say with their older packages that require bmi software.
Ie, Tradestation 4.0.

The days of little choice are gone. BMI is still acting like a monopoly
(oligopoly) in a dynamically changing market. Mediocrity is no longer
acceptable. Customers will simply not put up with it now that e other
choices are available.

Andrew.

Is there any alternative for running SuperCharts or TradeStation without
a BMI feed of any kind? I've had a BMI cable feed for 6 months and my
ISDN line still gets the ticks faster through Townsend Analytics over the
Internet
for my RealTick III charts.... but (obviously) with SuperCharts I can't use
Townsend data.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Brian
