Below are the results of our weekly "Guess the Dow" sentiment survey. The
survey was taken from 10/12 through 10/18 on our web site.
Number of participants: 395
30 day outlook:
27% bullish, 28% last week
58% bearish, 57% last week
16% neutral, 15% last week
(percentages may not sum to 100 due to rounding)
Median guess for the DJIA closing value on Friday, 10/23: 7959 (it was 7695

Last weekend we reported that bearish sentiment increased from already very
high levels in a week when the DJIA was up 115 points. We thought that that
sentiment data favored the bulls. Evidently something was favoring the
bulls, as the DJIA was up 500+ points for the week. Amazingly enough, we
have the same story this week. Despite last weeks huge rally, our sentiment
numbers grew slightly more bearish. It is really difficult to find any way
to view this data as anything but bullish.
