I agree with you on all but the trading. The child can not trade with out
parental consent and they are on the hook for all loses.

When I was 14 I made money with a paper route. I wanted to invest in a
cyclical stock that was low in the summer and high in the winter. She wanted
to invest it in a gold mine. ....To make a sad story short. I felt ripped off
when I lost $$ and my investment would have made $$.
