This has been discussed before here and all the nuances covered, but for the newer
subscribers, here is what I remember.
Signal can not be split because it requires the software to provide data back to the
box. It can not take input from two programs. It is a two way communication
between the box and the server.
DTN protects from signal splitting by requiring a certain signal output level to be
maintained. Physically splitting the output drops the level and switches off the
box.
BMI, on the other hand, is easily split with a simple Y cable connector at the box.
You can get these at any cable fabricator and can make your own from simple parts.
BMI is not two-way and does not care about the output strength.
