Earl,
I agree--CAUTION.
It sounds to me like Ensign might be using the program number to key off of
instead of the symbol. You might be one of the lucky ones that does not
need to make any symbol changes at this time? DTN did tell me that some
software keys off of the symbol while some software keys off of the program
number. Apparently DTN is serious about the change as they did send the
following message to Sentinel Trading. ( I don't know why they got a
message and I did not?) I also received word from another trader who did
not get a notice but then checked in the help files tonight and saw a
notice of the change.
Hope this information is helpful to any DTN users. I have no connection
with DTN other than as a customer. I am just passing this information
along as a service to other traders who might be affected.
Sincerely,
Dan Tillemans

I received the following message from DTN.
ATTENTION DTN FINANCIAL SERVICES SUBSCRIBERS
7/17/98 12:45 P.M. CDT
On Sunday night July 19 DTN will be changing its
Futures symbol format. The year and month codes will be
transposed. For example SP8U will become SPU8. This
format has become the standard in the Commodity futures
industry. All of our software providers have been notified
and have assured us that each software is equipped to handle
the conversion.
In our menu choices, the changes will be made for you and will
be transparent. But be aware that if you go to the quick quote
feature and request a quote by typing in the symbol, the old
symbol will not work.
