I had been a Reg. Rep. with a big wire house from early 1980. Everything
in equities I had sold to my customers had turned to sh*t. A pitiful
summer rally had fizzled on July 20, at DOW 833 after the failure of a
Spring rally in May at 869. After the rally failure there were 15 down
days, two up days and 785 "support" was broken on Aug. 6th. The March
1980 March 1982 trendline was broken again and Mexico was going
belly-up. The brokers were not calling their clients on 8 12 98. It was
a eery quiet summer afternoon.
This year the 8th is on a Sunday and the 12th is on Wednesday.
