RE: End of Day Data Vendors

I subscribe to Telescan and have had a mixed experience. For stocks, I'd
rate them failrly high. For futures I'd rate them low. Their customer
service and server availability is good. I've never had a problem with
this. Data quality for stocks so far has been fairly good (3 years). Not
great, but good enough.

It's completely different with their futures data. It's a joke. With
futures it's more of a Telescam then a Telescan. Their opens are usually
off, and I mean way off. Usually it will appear as though the market
opened high, sold off, and then rallied to close near the high (or visa
versa). Sometimes they correct it the next day, sometimes not. Hi's, lows
and closes are usually within the ballpark of my real time feed which is
good enough. Sometimes though they're way off and you have to edit them by
hand (royal pain!). Their Bean Oil contracts have huge decimal placement
problems which makes the data all but unusable unless you edit it by hand
each night. Not! It's been this way for months. They say they're giving
it their highest priority but haven't fixed it yet. Makes me wonder what
their IQ's are if they can't fix.

Their general download fee is $29/mo which gives you unlimited stock and
futures download. This is a good rate compared to Dial Data.

Dial Data is way more expensive (when last I looked which was a year or so
ago.) and customer service is nonexistent!

If you plan to trade futures mainly, I'd look somewhere else. I've heard
good things about CSI. Also there is your own real time feed which for me
has been worked well.

Hope this helps.

Brian.

There is also Dial data and Telescan Dial is in Brooklyn, I think, and
has internet access and a flat rate unlimited download which includes 2
years of back data prices are determined by which markets you want to DL.
They also have basic fundamental data available. Telescan is in Houston
and have fundamental data availble as well. I'm not sure how their pricing
works though.
