In my view, what counts is the ability to modify behavior on a constant basis,
which is the consequence of shifting beliefs or priorities. Not being able to do
so will lead you into forever repeating ineffective patterns.
As for the beliefs per se, you always do your best obviously, but your best
may not be useful or effective enough. Hence the need to evolve and explore new
avenues. Experience will allow you to convince yourself of the need to change.
Now as far as reality is concerned, it is only a reflection of our own state of
mind. A market goes up or down? Well it depends on time frame, perspective,
filters etc... A 60 min upmove may mean a lot to a day trader, but nothing to a
commercial.
That is my current belief, and it has been damn effective...!
