Being in the MIS,
My personal opinion is over buy. Your hardware sounds adequate. I think it
is worth the extra $$$ to get the Sony. Dell sells the sony's also. 
I don't trade real time so I can't help you with the software, however
there are plenty of RTr's that can give you good advise.
Also I just received Stocks and Commodities magazine's bonus issue, which
includes a rating of all types of quote services, technical analysis
software etc. It is very informative, you may want to get that issue.
