Not that I am a complete tight wad, but an alternative to the big
monitor is a slightly used 21" Sony TV (1 year old - less than $175) and
a TV adapter card (new approx.  $300, a used card is cheaper). Much
cheaper and my guess is that the results are going to be pretty good as
well.
