ADMIN: Is your ISP changing phone numbers?

Realtraders and Friends,

  This is just a short note to let you know how to avoid a potentially
small financial disaster.

  Recently, I was informed by my ISP, via email, that they were going to
change the 'log-in' phone number for my connection.  No problem, I said...I
made note of it.  During the following week I needed to call their
technical service hotline to ask another question.  Once I was done with
that issue, I asked the representative about the new phone number change.
Simply, he said that they were just trying to accommodate more customers,
thus the need to change the phone number.  Further, he indicated that the
LOCATION of their server WAS NOT GOING TO CHANGE.

  Anyhow, based on this info, I changed to the new number.

  Several days ago, I received my phone bill.  To my surprise, this new
phone number has now become a long-distance intrastate call and as such I
incurred a per minute rate for my connections.  Well, suffice it to say, my
normal $12 per month LOCAL unlimited access rate soared to over
$1025.00...WOW!!!  Bell Atlantic was kind enough to give me a 20% discount
on the $1025 because I sent more than $20 during the month so that knocked
down my payment to $810, but still a hefty sum to dish out for my Internet
connection.  And believe it or not, my per minute average rate is 11 cents,
 I guess when you are connected for over 9000 minutes during the month, it
adds up...WOW, AGAIN!!

  So the moral of the story:  If your ISP is going to change phone numbers
regardless of changing physical locations, PLEASE CHECK WITH YOUR PHONE
COMPANY TO MAKE SURE THE NEW NUMBER IS NOT LONG-DISTANCE!!!
