I did check out Harbor. Sounds interesting. They confirmed the 10:1
leverage on a $25,000 account for day trades. I forgot to ask how low
they'll let me get my account before asking me to deposit more money.
They use the SP Comstock data feed and the Townsend Archipealgo order entry
system and charge $350/month, which isn't too bad. They point out this is
not an SOES system. They can trade ECN's (Island, etc.), and SuperDOT for
NYSE.
They charge $50/RT up to 1000 shares the 1 3/8 cents per shre after that.
The reason I find this interesting is that 1) it allows me to to taylor the
"contract" exactly to my liking by varying the number of shares I buy. 2)
it gives me a much wider range of tradables, and allows me to trade "news".
3) I trade direct - select a bid and hit sell.
I don't know if you can place stops or limit orders, so I don't know if
this is useful for anything but full time day trading. Also, since I've
never analyzed this type of trading, I'm not sure if the advantages are
only apparent - not real. Anybody know what the "gotchas" might be?
In the mean-time, I'm seriously considering Bressert (BOLT) because of
their online trading system. I also noticed GreenStreet is advertising
$10/RT for e-mini. Let the price wars begin!!
