Will look at IBController, Abhijit. Perhaps it recognizes instances
where the "Market data" indicator at the lower right in TWS is
yellow.... the indication that not all symbols have been connected to
the appropriate router for the symbol.
A chat with IB Customer Service had no automatic recovery solution...
suggesting those of us seeing this are few. I've seen only 1 other
trader report having the issue. This on the IB forum.
Today, ER2 recovered while YM did not about 45 min prior to the regular
open.
Hoping the prob ends when we get to the new office where DSL, Cable,
Wi-Fi, Fractional T1 are all available.

No sure if the problem is related to dial-up connection.. maybe all you
can get is a dial-up. Besides that.. I use IBController v2.2
(groups.yahoo.com - twsapi group - look under files). I use this to
automanage 2 IB accounts. Using Cable ISP btw. TWS's start sunday night,
dies friday night - never a problem. Fully automanaged. Oh - using
latest TWS, Java 1.5 - no problems. I have used the above setup both
under a linux box & a w2k box - very stable & reliable under both.

Folks, here's the mystery:
Several times weekly and perhaps only when a telephone-ISP disconnect
occurs TWS will forget to restart getting data for one or more contracts.
Today, for example, the telephone connection to the ISP was
interrupted for two minutes prior to the regular open. Upon restoring
of the connection TWS was automatically restarted (by the TWSStart
utility)and logged on to IB. However, only the ER2 contract data flow
was restored. The YM row in TWS contained no data to the right of the
contract Description.
When I saw this I restarted TWS and the YM and ER2 data flow was
restored.
This appears to be a problem unchanged by switching to the latest
version of TWS and Java 1.5.
Ideas warmly welcomed.
