--Problem Description.
After installing other miscellaneous software , TS2000I then creates an
ERROR window "PMI - 2001 errmsg Unable to open file" when opening a
"Strategy Performance Report".
--Suggested Fix of loading another ver of vcf132.ocx.
Loading older versions of "vcf132.ocx" in some cases stopped the error box
from appearing , but then the report window was blank [another common
problem]
--This is how I fixed it on my pc without reinstalling everything.
Cause in my case was a missing file in c:\program files\omega
research\program called "PmIEod5.xls"
This was proven by using file monitoring software.
I replaced the missing xls file from a previous backup. Opening the
"PmIEod5.xls" file in excel shows this file is a template for displaying the
"Strategy Performance Report".
-- Sugested prevention methods
Back up your omega research directories.
Dont install software whilst "omega software products" are running.
Hope this helps someone , this is what fixed mine , maybe each scinario is
different according to different vcf132.ocx files? maybe.
Cheers

Let me know if this actually fixes the report.
Jimmy
Hi all
Can somebody send me a copy of their vcf132.ocx file. I have the dreaded
"pmi - error 20011 unable to find file error". The file is in the
c:\windows\system32 directory.
Apparently , thats what I need , see the text below from the archives.
Thanks

Allen, Michael, Jeff,
I'm pleased to report that I've been able to solve the problem of the
non-operative
Blank Strategy Performance Report *without* re-installing Tradestation.
Fortunately, I also had the program installed on my laptop machine, and that
one
continued working. I found a program called DLLExplorer on the web, and
this
allowed me to do a comparison of the DLL's and OCX components that both
copies of
Tradestation were using when running the Performance Report. This led to
the
discovery that the non-functional copy was using an earlier version of
VCF132.OCX.
This is the popular Formula One spreadsheet component that TS2Ki is using
for the
Performance Report. It had been overwritten by the earlier version when I
recently
installed VISIO 2000 on my machine. I unregistered the bad copy and
re-registered
the good copy, and now I can do Performance Reports again. (I'm afraid my
scream of
triumph may have disturbed the neighbors...)
The interesting thing about this is that it wasn't really Omega's fault -
the
responsibility for this kind of "DLL Hell" problem lies squarely with
Microsoft's
original lousy design for DLL's and OCX's. Omega's mistake was in using
Microsoft
tools in the first place...
Best regards,
David Rosenthal
