Re: Forex real-time data for 2000i

Just been trying to wade through the hyperserver and metatrader sites to see what would be required. Presumably this is hyperserver lite? It says it can only display one pair and, according to the site, the software expires/d in Dec 2004! so I haven't tried installing it. Is hyperserver plug-in or on demand (is this available yet?) also required?

Hi Ian,

Yes, it stores the data that it collects in realtime just as it would
with IB. In addition to that, Hypertrader has a history downloader
for Metatrader that will collect historical data if your system goes
down. Metatrader has a from 1 or 2 weeks of 1 minute data up to 20+
years of daily data that you can import into TS.
The only "downside" is a small window with ads on it that runs
whenever you run a Hypertrader program, but as good as these guys
have been with a free product, it doesn't bother me.
Hope that helps. Good trading!

Can't get much cheaper than that, then! :-)

Does it store the data it collects so you can do
backtesting? If your system goes down can you get backfills? Is there any
historical data to download, even a couple of weeks?

I know a guy who uses the IB feed (with Hyperserver,
I think) but it has many limitations.

I use the free feed from Metatrader and feed it to
TS

using Hyperserver (also free). Works great.

Just be aware that no forex feed will match
exactly

with your trade prices except for your broker's
feed

since its the broker that sets the dealing prices
(no

central marketplace). I wish there was a way to
get

data from Oanda into TS, but alas, this is the
best

method I have found for now.
