Steve,
I forget which OS you are running.
If you have NT, 2000 or XP open the Task manager and keep it open all
the time but minimized. Start with nothing running but Global Server.
Check the task manager Processes tab and be sure you have the column
CPU Time and Mem Usage activated. In a fast market your CPU graph by
the clock will move up a bit or a lot. Shouldn't move much with your
machine. Now try running one NEW workspace with one chart of say the
ES or NQ or some such symbol that is very active. You do have all
your emini symbols setup as an index or stock don't you????????? Now
see what that does to the CPU and the memory usage. I'm collecting
data on five emini symbols set as index and never have a lag. I also
run a bunch of other programs at the same time. My machine is old
too. Now add the quotemonitor if you normally use one. It can be a
problem especially if it is not fully on the workspace. Mine would
just quit if I pushed it down where only the top showed. So just keep
adding stuff until you see a problem. All my indicators run set
update on each tick. It can slow you down so you have to kind of
watch it. I also use functions a lot. If I put a lot of code in the
indicators themselves they can be a slow up. Getting out of my area
now though. Ask those real smart code guys those questions.
Jimmy
I have "update every tick turned off" for indicators and I still get a lag ,
hourglass on pointer about once per second (basically locks the computer and
flashes the screen).
I have a new motherboard and cpu (P4-3gig,800 fsb and 500 meg ram)
It's is very annoying- any solutions?
Thanks in advance,
Steve
