Bob Scott Unfrag.exe question

I  ran the program as per usual but some of my data disappeared this
time
when I re-opened charting in the offline mode.
In my server files I have:
4$SIG.DAT
4$SIG.IDX
40SIG.DAT
40SIG.IDX

I copied them all to another drive.
In the server folder,
I intend to remove the new ones and restore the names
of the old ones
and then go into my portfolio and trim down the # of days
stored because I think this is the source of the problem.

Question: Do I need to delete the IDX file before I open
the server to rebuild the IDX file or will it create a new one
and rename the old one automatically?
Question2: Is my procedure correct?
