David,
The "4$" files are the Unfrag backup files which are saved. You can run
Unfrag again and choose "Restore" instead of "Overwrite" and you will be
back to the condition before you ran the last "Unfrag". Or, if you want to
keep all of the data until you are happy with what you have, you can
manually rename the "40SIG.DAT" and "40SIG.IDX" files to something else like
"4xSig.DAT" and "4xSig.IDX" and then rename the "4$" files to "40". You
should not have to rebuild the index file "40SIG.IDX" if you do it manually
this way or the other by choosing "Restore" when running "Unfrag". However,
running Unfrag should only delete data older than the number of tick days
saved in the portfolio so I am unsure of how cutting down on the number of
days will improve things.
If you want, you can p-mail me if you have more questions.

~Bob
