Thinking my 3 yo burner was broken, I went out & bought a new burner,
installed it, and used the Win2000 Hardware Wizard to find it. What came up
was the burner with an exclamation point through it. Clicking on to the
next step it said I had a Code 19 registry corruption issue. It suggested
we go into Permissions in the Registry to allow some sort of full access to
all parents and offspring. We did that, but nothing changed.
My colleague seems to think that if we could locate where in the registry
keys the drivers are located he could reset them somehow so they'd
associate with the burner. He's a professional programmer, so he's
comfortable in the registry. However, he was unable to locate where the
keys are stored for the burner. He said it would take a very long time to
locate them.
So, I'm hoping some savvy Windows-type out there can help us, either with
locating them, or if we're totally off base, something else. Unfortunately,
my last backup was after I discovered the problem, so I don't have a last
good version of the registry. Reinstalling everything is out of the
question, as it would take weeks given the scores of apps I have on this box.
If anyone can offer guidance I'd be eternally grateful, as otherwise, I
have no way to install any software on this box (and I just bought an
expensive program I can't return).
Thanx,
Michael
