The missing .dat and .idx are the problem.  I've never seen this.  I
wouldn't think the GS would be able to delete those files, or maybe I
could say the GS can't delete them.  It can corrupt them but they will
still be there.  Is your hard drive in good shape.  Run scandisk and
see if you have lost chains.  I would start making a copy of the PDS
each night until you get it fixed up.  The GS saves data kind of where
it wants, from one symbol to the next they could be in any of the .dat
folders.  I would search for a windows problem or operator error.
First find out if your drive is ok.  Then check with the operator of
the computer to see if he made any mistakes.
