I did have trouble today morning cancelling an order. The order remained in
"cancel sent" state for a long time. Called trade desk, was able to reach
someone immediately. Rep said they are having trouble with CME connectivity
(whatever that means). While on the phone with him, cancellation
confirmation came back. Done more trading after that... no problems.

While unfortunate, I do not see a way around this. All brokers that I have
dealt with, has their share of bad days.. We can only have 1)Hard stop & 2)
backup broker (in my case IB). That should take care of 90% of these
problems. Other 10%.. well, that's the name of the game, I guess.
