||Here's what I would do:

||Install Partition Magic and allocate a partition of your hard-drive
for XP
||(or better yet, add a 2nd hard-drive)

||Set up the dual-boot option so you can choose to boot to either
Win-2000
||or XP
||
||Install XP from scratch, **NOT AS AN UPGRADE** to Win-2000
||
||After XP is installed, apply at least the first three tweaks at:

||(the tweaks will make XP much faster and more efficient)
||
||Install your normal software under XP
||
||With this scenario, you'll have everything you had under 2000 running
as
||before with XP to play with in the event that it needs some work to
||duplicate whatever you were doing under 2000
