Third Party Directory Symbol Lists in 2000i

I have come back to TS 2000i from TS 7 and am setting up third party
directory symbol lists with ascii files from Yahoo finance. 2000i requires
clicking to select each symbol in the list, using control or shift keys to
select multiple symbols is not possible. It also prompts for the ascii
settings for each symbol in the list, it is not possible to select one
format as default setting for the list.

 

Am I missing something? What should be a simple task to set up a list
requires hours of mouse-clicking.
