Mark,
There is a reason for your computer freezing. It could be a lot of
things. One thing I have found very useful is if you are running XP
Pro you can very often use CTRL ALT DEL to shutdown the computer and
the GS will close correctly. Not always. Then when you reboot use
Windows Explorer to rename the PDS folder to a different name. Any
name will do. Then crank up the GS and you will get the rest of the
day's data. You can export it later to a file. Then rename the
PDS file for a day to say PDS today then rename the corrupt one to PDS
and open the GS to reindex if needed the data. Then I suggest shut
down GS reboot and make sure your temp file is empty. In XP you find
it under Documents and settings\Your name\Local Settings\Temp. You
will see files in it like RM???.tmp or if GS is running JET???.tmp.
You will be able to delete most or all if you have rebooted to get GS
to let go of them. Then open GS and import the days data you
exported. I get errors on huge files but usually all the data has
been imported anyway. This way you lose very little data.
Maybe someone knows another way but I can't figure it out.
