Income taxes in Singapore are slightly better than the U.S. but they
have NO personal capital gains tax, so I guess if you make your
living trading, you pay no tax!

After having visited Singapore a few times, I'd say I'd like to live
there. Each time I'm there, I think I'm in San Francisco, only with
just the good parts and none of the bad parts. Everybody speaks
English (it's the first language for all children) but nobody speaks
it to each other on the train or bus (just like in San Francisco),
many signs are bilingual (just like SF), there is lots to do, lots
to see, lots to eat (food's incredible). Unlike SF, the city is
clean and there's no crime and prices are cheap.

They've been the most proactive about dealing with SARS too.
I hope that blows over before my wedding over there in July.

Transparency International's Corruption Index ranks Singapore
as the least corrupt of all Asian countries, and has an even
better ranking than the United States, Canada, and the UK.
