I've tried Behold a couple of years ago. Not sure what the current
status is, but at that time it wasn't for "multi operating system
platforms" at all. Behold was sold as able to run on linux machines -
but not without a Mac emulator! I bought Executor, the Mac emulator
recommended by Jim Payne, but never got it to work properly. After about
zero to 15 minutes of work the whole thing would crash. Although Jim
Payne was very cooperative, It eventually became clear that this would
do nothing but annoy me.

It's a common misconception that you need to program in assembler to get
the best performance. Nowadays, compilers are so good that the code
generated for complex applications will outperform handwritten assembler
almost all of the time.
