What's next? Definitive action that drops peoples' jaws or fluf and lip
service?
The real problem is how serious our leaders are willing to pursue this. How
serious are *we* about taking care of this problem? Although it is not
reported in this country, the democrats in congress are dragging their feet
about giving Bush the real authority he needs to conduct a viable offensive.
We have over 5000 dead in the streets and they are still looking for a way
to take minimum action so the problem can be inherited by the next
generation? University scholars are making comments about following
criminal statutes and don't seem to understand in war it is not necessary to
read them their rights. All the most powerful nation on earth needs to do
is show the rest of the world they are deadly serious and they may be
surprised how much support their allies are willing to contribute. We will
get none if this is going to be another half baked face saving fiasco that
will not solve the problem. If they really want to settle the issue then
the willingness to destroy any regime or nation that harbors or supports
these fanatics must be there!
We want Bin Ladin? We tell the Teleban they have 48 hours to *deliver* him,
or they are toast. Bin Laden may be hiding like a coward, but the Teleban
could and will deliver him with a real ultimatum.
We want to use Pakistan's airspace. "No problem, sir" they say: if they
know *for sure* they are either with us or against us.
All this is possible and probable if we don't pussy foot around legalities
and bleeding heart liberal ideas of negotiations with the terrorists. Have
you ever tried negotiating with a scorpion? As the turtle in the old tale
did: oops, I guess he is no longer with us.
