Favors only used them because some of the indicators/systems he used
required them.  The indicators used them for the reason you cited earlier,
"they were developed before computers were around to keep track of the index
tick-by-tick."  I forget which systems but I think Gann pivots of various
timeframes were some of them.  He said that you could use actual data but
that the theoretical data "worked better".  After subscribing to his service
for a year, I wonder if he's really in a position to know.

I would be interested in why anyone would find the theoretical values
useful.

Someone told me that Jerry Flavors liked the theoretical for some reason.
