I'd summarize it like this: a counter trend reversal system
that uses extremes in Consensus of Opinion and Commitment
of Traders as filters. (Sometimes uses Seasonal filter as well).
With an extreme established, his trigger is a modified Turtle
technique by placing an entry stop back beyond the the last
high/low of the last seven days. Throw in one or two of his
favorite oscillators and OBV and you've got Larry's main
system.
Day trading in the S&P is completely different. There he favors
a day-of-the-week seasonal and two day bar chart pattern signal,
that he has arrived at by statistical research--
with intramarket bonds and sometimes gold as filters.
I never saw anyone achieve Larry's documented results. Mostly,
as far as I could tell, because his ability to come back for the
occasional big gorilla winner after a long series of losses is far
better than the average trader. His pockets are quite a bit
deeper than most beginner traders too. Another reason his
documented results are seldom matched is because Larry's
intuitive skills are pretty high--and very difficult to translate into
lessons.
And like so many in this industry, he supports his trading
with vendor sales. We may never know which one he
made more money in.
