the C: drive as FAT. That way you can boot to something

The OS itself does not have to sit in C:
Actually C: only needs to be a small drive. About 200 Megs
or so for a NT4 install. Now days with drive space so
cheap, I would recommend a gig or so.
I would also copy a set of the NT install/distribution files in a
directory on C: drive in case the CD drive flakes or you can't
get to it - ie safe mode boot.
