I agree with you that looking at the ads is a pain.  However, the tradeoff
we would get in return would be a convenient place to store files to
exchange with one another, and a browseable, searchable archive of the
omega-list.

One can also pay a small subscription fee to eGroups to disable the adds.
This would benefit everyone on omega-list, but of course someone would have
to pay for it.  Otherwise, for people who simply can't put up with the adds,
there are services like http://adsubtract.com/ that are readily available.
