Here is the response from my friend. The problem is fixed, thanks for all
the responses.

<<Safesoft changed the SSI_ACT.386 settings from stock to something else
when I first installed it years ago. When I migrated everything over
from a PII (100) to an AMD K6 (300) the settings managed to stay intact
& work. Omega support had me run a test today that recommended some
other settings that did not work. Later this evening Omega Support sent
me a doc w/ suggestions on how to deal w/ this issue of my block not
being recognized.
When I worked my way halfway thru the suggestions my eye caught a
reference to people using AMD's K6, and how it required unique settings.
I made the registry changes & bingo! Everything works. Now all I need to
do is get some guidance from them on how to transfer all my workspaces,
data, ela's, etc. from my CD backup to the new installation. If that
goes OK I should be back in business (fingers crossed).
I appreciate all suggestions & especially Omega for coming thru finally.
Just when it seemed they'd run out of possibilities they hit upon the
right one. I certainly hope no-one ever has to go through something like
this! Once again, as a trader I've learned how important it is to leave
things alone when they're working. Too much time is wasted on
non-trading issues <g>
