So true. An off topic story that illustrates this point: I used to live and
trade from a beach house on the North shore of Oahu. Some of the biggest and
best surf in the world was in my front yard (the "Banzai Pipeline"). A school
yard basketball court was just across the street. One evening a couple of
surfers dropped by the court for a pick up game. One of them was particularly
pathetic at hoop: he could not put together two dribbles in a row, I don't
remember him getting the ball even close to the rim, and he bobbled
everything that got near him. One might assume this guy totally lacked
athletic talent. Turns out the guy was Tommy Curan: three time world champion
surfer. In the surfing world he would be in a class like Magic Johnson, Larry
Bird, or Michael Jordan are in hoop.
This episode emphasized to me the point of not prejudging. Relative to
trading someone might be a lousy trader, but a great teacher, or vice versa.
People may not be what they seem; we really do not know what talents lurk in
each other.

Me too! Thanks!
Back on topic: the other day I was thinking about the "you've got game"
posts. It occurred to me that most NBA playoff games are played on Friday
nights or Sundays. The question was: is there a correlation just for "buy on
the close Friday and exit on the close Monday?" Nothing earth shattering
here, nothing really new, and nothing I would trade on its own, but I found
the results interesting. I tested it on daily S&P cash back to 1990 and NDX
cash to 1994. My simplistic code follows:
inputs: dwb(5),dws(1); {inputs in case you want to try some other combos}
if DayOfWeek(date)= dwb then Buy at c;
if DayOfWeek(date)= dws then exitlong;
if barssinceentry > 1 then exitlong; {in case Monday is a holiday}
