I have done this with an @home cable modem and a ATT ISP dial up
modem. One time it work flawlessly the other time I was locked out of
eSignal.

The first connection must fail and REMAIN off long enough for the
eSignal server to "clear" the IP address it shows for your account so
that it won't lock your new connection out because it will think you
are trying to log two computers on at the same time. Esignal is
designed to only allow one IP connection at a time for each account.
My guess, by observaton, is that this only takes about 30 seconds,
but it would be nice to know the exact cycle time.

I had to call eSignal tech support to reset my account before I could
log on again. My best recollection is that shutting down the data
manager and the restarting cleared the double account problem, all the
while I had no data from eSignal.

My solution has been to unplug the non-working cable connection and
THEN dial out the telephone line, letting it get established with
eSignal before re-connecting the cable modem to watch for it to come
on-line again. If you going to be away from your computer leave them
both connected and hope that the DSL or Cable connection stays off
long enough to get clear your IP number. Your DSL/Cable will go out
before your Data icon will change from green to red. Once mine is red
I then pull the plug on the cable modem's network connection. Yes your
Winsock WILL automatically look for another connection and it WILL
automatically re-establish your data flow with eSignal, but you are
taking a chance that it might not. Of course if you are not present
you won't get re-connected until the DSL/Cable is online again anyway
so under those circumstance it is worth the risk.
