As Andrew pointed out, this letter has been around for a long, long time. The
ones I saw in the early 70's were typed on manual typewriters (no IBM Selectrics
in Nigeria) and came by regular mail. They had many typos and an "official"
rubber stamped government seal. And there were lots of them. Rumor had it that
if you bit, your name ended up on a list and you were contacted by a Nigerian
who, for a small service fee (payable in advance), would help you get your money
back.

It's scary that this thing is still around. Scary because it must be working.
