RE: Data format changes...

I have heard from a source that I respect, that there is at least a serious
consideration underway for BMI within a year to become just a quality
futures only data feed because of all of the problems discussed in these
messages.

| Someone recently asked why BMI couldn't start transmitting at a
| faster rate
| since they dropped their delayed feed. The answer may lie in their plans
| for how they will handle the additional required bandwidth nec. to
| accommodate the new NASDAQ decimal format changes in July. At least the
| NASDAQ is planning to adopt an all decimal format for price quotes which
| apparently will require significant additional broadcasting bandwidth to
| transmit the same amount of information you're currently getting. BMI may
| simply be making room for this additional required overhead. When BMI reps
| say things like "it's only going to get worse before it gets better" they
| may be eluding to these changes which will impact data quality.
|
| Also, the Bridge data service which not only feeds BMI sat and cable, but
| several internet vendors, is struggling to keep up with bandwidth
| requirements now. This may at least partially explain why BMI service is
| continuing to erode even for sat users. The NASDAQ changes will make an
| already pressing situation even worse and from what I'm told
| Bridge has not
| been proactive in modifying their system to accommodate the new changes.
