TS4.0 BMI RT 40bonn.dat question

I'm running TS 4.0 build 27 and I use BMI for Real Time data.  How come
when I delete symbols from my Portfolio (a significant amount) the size
of my 40bonn.dat file does not shrink in size?  Is it important that it
does not?
