It is the best and most efficient server in the world, running on any
platform that collects data from as many sources as it does. It is nothing
short of amazing and anyone who knows Kent personally knows he is the expert
of data feed servers. It may be noted sever exchanges use his server
themselves, a task even the largest data corporations in the world are not
prepared to tackle. PS a Linux version is in the works, I have personally
campaigned to Kent for this and will most likely be a financial supporter of
that project if he needs it. As we plan to port TWX eventually to Linux.

Yes even to this day hidden away Omega has the same symbol universe problems
it has always had.

missed collecting due to equipment outages, etc. or do you only get this
with the "professional" version?

The big fallacy of the Universal server is the inability to easily paste in
data. We have solved that problem with TWX by providing a real time snap
shot database that can be downloaded by any client of TWX during the trading
day and seamlessly pasted in on the fly. Without interruption of regular
data feed or the need to reboot or do a clean up.

> 2) I know OR doesn't support UMBS, how hard is it to get tickdata into TS
4.0? I know it's probably not possible real time, but could one run UMBS on
a separate PC collecting all the data and then transfer tickdata over to
TS4.0 when needed to run backtesting?

Yes that cab be done, however the charts would have to be refreshed to see
the new data, it would not stream. For my style of trading that would be
fine because I rely on timed intervals to take samples of data and those
times are consistent throughout the day.

> 3)If you get the "professional" version is historical tickdata available
from the UMBS folks?

The version 3 of the Universal server (which I have to say I even wonder
myself if it will ever come) will allow paste in of data easily and some
other features. I'm not setting still waiting on it though and have
completely programmed around all user maintenance problems that it had.
