TS2k update report

Just installed TS2k on an NT machine, updating the old TS4 directory
which was copied from the TS4 machine.

(1) Copying the TS4 directory was a waste of time - nothing seems to be
updated during the install. TS2k came up as though it were a clean
install, and knew nothing of what I had done before.

(2) Had 2 small crashes during install, but these did not seem to halt the
install. Thank heavens for NT! Nobody should try anything else for TS2k
(and a big thanks to the list folks who made this suggestion earlier).

(3) Had to export and them import all of the studies, etc, and all the
data to get TS2k up to date. A number of studies did not verify, possibly
because there are duplicate names, and I did not want to overwrite what
was just installed.

TS should allow multiple directories for studies. This would eliminate the
dup name problem, and allow much better organization of one's work, IMHO.
I made this suggestion to Omega many times, with the usual result.

(4) 'Help' has crashed about a dozen times in the short time I have spent
with TS2k so far. I've used it a lot to help get up to speed. Again, NT
allows me to go on after help crashes - I just fire up help again.

(5) Some functions do not behave the same way as in TS4. For example, the
expert commentary does *not* refresh the chart as it did in TS4 - only the
commentary box is refreshed.

(6) The EL editor interface does not handle nested comment brackets
correctly. This is such a glaring and obvious error, I'm surprised it was
not caught in beta test. Hmmm... I guess I'm the beta tester<g>.

(7) Historybank data seems to have a **lot** of errors. Several of the
ones I used to set up test charts would be no good at all for trading
or back testing.

Is the newer data from a download any better? Does HB replace data when
downloaded, or merely extend the dates? Does HB have a built-in way of
fixing bad data?

Have not tried TS2k in real time yet - still using TS4. Are there free
trials from data vendors to check out rt operation for, say, a month?
