i was asked this question in private: what and who is ben warwick and
what is the book's name? the book's name is called "event trading"
(1996). the subtitle is "profiting from economic reports and short-term
inefficiencies"
ben warwick is the first guy i've read that trades price shocks
occuring from the release of earnings, economic and government reports.
warning: his stat approach is linear (gaussian), not nonlinear
(paretian). also, he's big on breakouts.
still, it's a good read (though somewhat dated) into the subject of
price shocks.

book, and that's all i'm going to say about that except that price
shocks can be predicted and traded and people are doing it.<<<
