I have mine saving 50,000 days of 1 minute, 50,000 days of 1 Day, and 50,000
days of 1 tick.
I also have tick data starting 12/1/1997 until 04/13/99 in the server, for the
OEX and several others.
If you have just started the server for the first time it may take it over night
to start collecting each of the resolutions, it seems to be building a data base
of available symbols from the universe and the data feed, during its first hours
of running. In fact I know that is what it's doing. Your CPU will be much more
active during this period and will then settle down, mine is 20% to 40% in use
during most market days depending on what I'm doing. This is less of an issue
using one of the Internet data feeds, as they start collecting almost
immediately due to the lack of a data base that is being read from a receiver
box. I am running on DTN which has more symbols that any other feed so it takes
a while to start collecting. I am collecting 1700 stocks, 92 indexes,120 index
options, and 12 futures as of today.
Once data is collecting I then change my History to save settings and import my
omz files. Or xpo files.

In Global Server, I set up my "BMI Indices" Template to save 5,000 Days, 5,000
Days 1-Tick, 5,000 Days 1-Minute, and 5,000 Days Implied Volatility. The
result was the Global Server saved Daily data for Indices, however NO Intraday
Data was saved in the Global Server beyond the current day.
Yesterday I reduced my "BMI Indices" Template to save 5,000 Days, 100 Days
1-Tick, 100 Days 1-minute and 5,000 Days Implied Volatility. After I made
that change, my Intraday data for Indices started to be saved beyond the current
day. Apparently the Global Server does not allow Intraday Data on Indices to
be saved for 5,000 Days, a setting I have had for Indices in the TS 4 Server for
some time.
I have reported this problem to Omega's "Q.A." department, but it seems not a
single bug in TS 2000 has been publicly confirmed by Omega.
