GlobalServer: roll your own

Call me silly but I have this vision of coming home
after work and bringing up a workspace with windows
displaying world indices, charts of bond futures, stock
options, etc. Then I would quickly scan through the
whole universe of securities and pick the combinations
I would like to trade. Needless to say this would be
impossible in the current release of TS 2000i specially
on my low-end (200MMX/64Mb) PC. And I can't afford
to shell out 5 grand on a new one till next year. Then there
is the fact that I program for a living, love a challenge and
have some time to spare.

It seems to me that GS is the stumbling point of TS 2000i.
If I made TS work with a fast data server than all the problems
will be solved. More to the point... Omega made public the
read-only interfaces to GS. I would wager a bet that TS is
using the same interfaces to access its data. I would also
think that you could replace GS by creating a COM object
with the same COM interface but a different back-end.
Think Universal Market Data server, QC or anything out there.

Anybody interested besides me? Constructive opinion,
bashing and flaming welcome :-).
