First thoughts on joining an Omega User's Group

Well,

this Saturday was my fiirt Omega User's Group Meeting. It was with the
"Los Angeles, CA group" which actually meets in Thousand Oaks. I
currently have a system which I have been working on for some time. It
gives me very reliable entry and exit points, but I was concerned about
the calculation of stops and the number of contracts I should trade... I
figured I would get to such things later...

Well, anyway, I arrived a little late, but people who I had corresponded
with on this list were sure to let me know they were there... The main
feature was a very good presentation by Al Gietzen about his trading
method as described by his book "Advanced Cycle Trading" available from
amazon.com (I ordered it - I think you should too) He described a
variation of frequency (Fourier) analysis and pitfalls of FFT... I
(being versed in FFTs) found his presentation very lucid.

However, the items that impressed me were his definitions of stops and
number of shares to be traded. His concepts fit directly into my own
strategy.

As far as I am concerned, the one meeting that I attended not only paid
for the meeting fee, but also for the membership fee - plus all the
other following meeting fees for the year... (Considering my
"opportunity cost.")

I do not know if all user group meetings are as informative as this one,
but this one has convinced me that it is well worth the time to find a
user's group and attend...
