RE: TS2000i upgrade

if omega opens up and follows the autocad model of treating piracy as
an extended free trial, then i applaud them too. the solution
providers have had way too much sway with omega and fueled their
paranoia for system encryption. the ts2000i system encryption is
probably hacked by now, so why fight it? i say let the vendors absorb
the costs for protecting their systems, not omega. this is the crux of
the problem. encryption costs too much and cuts deeply into the r&d
(marketing :)) budget. if it puts the vendors out of business because
the vendor now has provide more secure encryption for their ts
software add-ons, so be it. the more paranoid vendors out there may
cease to release their systems. the more reputable ones will simple
bite the bullet, add it to their development costs, and pass it on to
the buyer as they should.

i doubt that many traders are going to install ts on more than a
couple of pc's. french pete's vision of a piracy explosion is simply
unfounded and based on faulty facts. if omega is going to a e-trade
"cradle to grave" model, then giving away the damn thing makes more
sense in terms of commish kickbacks from e-brokers.

Yes, I'm sure there is one (there's probably several) but it's
crackable and it's probably expensive. (Actually MS has a small CPS
by packing more than 650Megs on a CD). Anyway if it was so
price/deterrant) effective I think companies like MS would have been
using it a long time ago. Again, my point is that even if TS5 is copy
protected the average person will not be able to copy it but will have
unlimted installtion ability which means it's not bound to a single
machine pentium 3 or no. This will probably violate the licensing
agreement though.
