Think of a layered computer system: Easy to capture the ticks in real time,
then upload them into ORACLE. ORACLE can even manage flat files almost
as well as a RAID array. (Redundant Array of Independent Disks)

I also believe ORACLE just partnered with some computer hardware mfgr. to
create a back-end database engine. Some of us grey-beards remember such
a beast from Britton-Lee, which ate SQL (or was it EQEL) and spat out
selected records.
