Beware! We set up an account with a local ISP in Mexico...
Looks like they were running a 386 for a server. Something like that. Every
night it would crash, you couldn't log on until the guy came in the next
morning and rebooted.
Then came Sunday 12/20. Holy smokes, what a signal (trading SP futures on
daily charts). I had to get long at all costs as soon as the Globex opened.
Started getting ready early in the day. Too bad I couldn't log on, but the
ISP had crashed as usual. Tried to log on to the ISP in Seattle, but the
connection was too bad (later I made it work, but had to use 2400 baud).
Tried to call the broker, but all I had was 800 numbers! Turns out they
don't work in Mexico (although nobody at Tel Mex seemed to know this).
Finally called a friend in the US and had him place the order for me. He
maganged to call a weird order desk, then somehow the broker had to do
something "special" to get it in the right account. He was not too HAPPY
with me!!! But they had to give me the trade.
