Had the same problem -- I was collecting around 3000 symbols. My data TS
files (40BONN.DAT, etc.) had grown very large-- almost 3 gigs. This turned
out to be the cause of the problem. I reduced the size of the file down to
about 300 Meg. and the system lost all its lag.
It's a lot of work-- I suggest doing it on a weekend with the Offline
Server. Copy out all symbols and data ranges that you want to keep, then
rename the old BONN files temporarily-- in case you need to reclaim them.
Then, "Paste" the data that you copied-out back into the TS Offline Server.
You will need a lot of hard-drive space to do this, because the server
copies out in expanded format, then compresses the data. The intermediate
files can get very large and will cause the operation to abort if you run
low on HD space. I had about 5 gigs available and had to copy-out the
Symbols in small lots (i.e. all symbols beginning with A thru C, D thru F, etc.)
Good luck! -- A lot of tedious work but the speed is back.
