using your analogy, then my question to you is how are you going to
trade Mar00 cars if you don't have the data for them? Don't you
realize that when Dec99 cars become second step, then Mar00 cars
become top step and will begin to trade in sometime early to middle
Dec 99? If the future(s) are interest rates, then you are in deep pig
doo now. most pro traders rely on long intraday data histories to ramp
their systems/ methods up to speed long before contract expiration,
especially if one uses perpetual contracts or leaps or and on and on
plus there's no telling what's goin to happen by leaving the morning
update server function unchecked while gathering 00 futures data now.
i've got a bad feeling that when we try to convert the current server
data into the new server format, the data will go into corruption
neverneverland, and omega tech support is going to cry "whoops, we've
f-ed up, sorry!" truth is, nobody (not even pete :)) knows what's
going to happen, patch or no patch. but just the same, i'd just as
soon have it now!!!

the cool thing is, there's goin to be a lot of trading software
choices in the next few months, so, omega, watch yer rear. it appears
that the game is rapidly achangin
